Margot’s clients say…

Margot was absolutely indispensable in the early days of being home with our son. Breastfeeding got off to a rocky start, as he had difficulty latching and I had a lot of pain. Margot was a calm, nurturing presence and helped me learn strategies and create plans to successfully get our feeding back on track. She listened to my concerns and preferences and adjusted recommendations accordingly day by day. Margot even checked in from her vacation to make sure things were going well. I would recommend her IBCLC services wholeheartedly—I’ve come to find out that a good lactation consultant is worth her weight in gold!

Margot has been so helpful as I’ve been navigating breastfeeding as a first-time mom. At the hospital I was overwhelmed with the guidance I was given and I was instructed to meet with a lactation consultant as soon as possible once I was home since they thought my baby was having difficulties with feeding, which was stressful. Margot was very responsive and I felt at ease once she arrived. She was very professional and I felt confident in her recommendations. She showed me different positions to try and ensured my husband was involved so he could help support me. Her follow-up information and care plan were thorough and she provided great resources that I’ve revisited multiple times. She’s also been able to help answer questions after our visit, since the first weeks of breastfeeding come with so many new things to figure out, which has been such a helpful support to have. I feel grateful that I was able to meet with her early on in my breastfeeding journey and ensure things were on track.

Margot was wonderful to work with! During an extremely stressful and emotional time, she was compassionate and understanding. She went through the situation in detail and was able to make several recommendations to alleviate the problems I was having with my newborn’s feeding. She was reassuring and available for follow up. Thanks to Margot I felt empowered to put in the hard work to continue my efforts to breastfeed and I am happy to say it was well worth it!!

Margot was able to provide a home consultation the next day after I contacted NYLCA and was very professional. She provided me with ample information prior to arriving and adhered to all COVID prevention methods. She actively listened to my concerns and goals, providing me with multiple options and emailed materials to review. She also was prompt in responding to follow up questions with additional options. I felt confident in her abilities as well as her compassion to a new mother.

Luzia is 6 months old and still breastfeeding like a champ. She just started eating some solid foods too! Thanks again for all your help when she was mini. Seems like an eternity ago!

“I do not have enough words to thank Margot for all her precious and kind support in the first and challenging phase of my breastfeeding journey. Her professionalism, competences and experience are invaluable. Margot provided me with lots of suggestions and resources, and more importantly, she was next to me while I was learning the art of breastfeeding! And she did it with such a grace and empathy, instilling me confidence and calm in a moment I felt very fragile. Margot, I am so grateful I met you, thank you for all your guidance and kindness.”

I received Margot’s information from the Mt Sinai lactation line (NYLCA) and I could not have been happier being referred to her. When I received her name I had already tried on my own for 2 weeks and I didn’t really see our breastfeeding improving and I felt rushed to fix it while I still could. I received Margot’s information on Saturday, texted her the same day and she responded straight away and sent me the documents I needed to complete before our appointment on the very next Monday. During our appointment I felt as if she had all the time in the world for me. Margot is compassionate, a great listener and has a very pleasant way of communicating. She asks for consent before touching you or the baby. Also, she put me at ease within 5 minutes of arriving by telling me all women are different and that not having a large milk supply yet didn’t really say that much. Margot gave me lots of tips for breastfeeding and pumping and she really took away my concerns. She sent me her document with everything we had discussed the same day of the appointment, including links to helpful websites and videos. She also said when I made a comment I was willing to do whatever was best for my daughter that it also has to be best for me and I think we new moms forget about ourselves and need to hear that! When I had a follow up question I received an answer the same day. Margot, I am so happy I found you!

Margot has been a tremendous help throughout my breast-feeding journey. I am a registered nurse and breastfeeding is out of my specific scope of practice. Margot treated me no different than anyone else and she was patient, kind, and provided so much education. She addressed all of my concerns and helped me feel comfortable with breast-feeding, pumping and listening to my baby’s cues for supply and demand. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I had not received Margot’s help.

Margot was literally my milk-saver! I loved that she came prepared with all the resources she thought I would need. My favorite resource she gave me was a breast shield that worked like a charm. My baby wasn’t latching in addition to my milk being delayed and that really worried me. But Margot was able to help me get my baby to latch and also produce milk with the assistance of the breast shield. I would definitely recommend Margot to anyone struggling with breastfeeding.

Margot was indeed a lifesaver. I was able to schedule an appointment with her within days after coming home from the hospital with my first child when everything was incredibly uncertain and new. She came well-prepared and was very patient with me and my partner as we posed our questions. She had great tips and tricks, and there’s no doubt that I wouldn’t have been able to continue breastfeeding without her support. I recommend Margot to all of my expectant friends. Thank you for helping us achieve our goal of pain-free feeds!

Margot blends just the right amount of clinical information with practical know-how in her teaching. After taking her class, I felt confident on the science behind breastfeeding but also in my own natural ability to adopt the skill. I was amazed at how much information she packed into her class, but at the same time, I didn’t feel overwhelmed at all. She prepared me with practical tips from her own experience, resources for further review, and a strong feeling of support. I’m happy to say that my son has taken to breastfeeding spectacularly, and I have Margot’s class to thank for so much of our success!

I was having trouble getting my newborn to regain his birth weight and had gone through a stressful 2 weeks of breastfeeding. With Margot’s help I was able to see how much milk my son was getting per feed and make the decision to supplement with formula and some pumped breast milk which made both me and my baby much happier. Margot helped me figure out my pump as well as some additional breastfeeding positions that worked well for my son. Within 3 days of seeing Margot, my son was back on track and had regained his birth weight and a little more. I would definitely recommend Margot to help out if you’re looking for guidance! I felt like she was able to help me figure out what would work best for me and my son!

I worked with Margot on day 5 of my baby’s life - after a harrowing couple of days where my husband and I realized our baby was not getting enough milk from me and was told to supplement by our pediatrician. Margot was amazing at explaining all the concepts about breastfeeding I had learned in the hospital (I.e. what a good latch looks like, what a bad latch looks like on my nipple, possible breastfeeding positions) and was able to address my very specific issues (engorgement, having to supplement) with patience. Having her detailed plan during that stretch of sleeping 2-3 hours total was SO valuable, as well as her availability afterwards to answer follow up questions.

Margot was great! She was very thorough with her intake process and very knowledgeable about my issues. She provided information and solutions for my oversupply issues and I was able to see me through some relief!

Margot is phenomenal. Professional, very knowledgeable, and compassionate. She listened acutely to what my concerns and goals were and tailored her insights to my specific situation. Also followed up with a ton of very helpful resources. I would highly, highly recommend.

Margot helped me twice with two very different issues. Because of her dedication and compassion and how much she wanted to help I’m still breastfeeding. If it wasnt for her I would have given up! She is engaged so helpful and puts you right at ease. She’s great!

My husband and I met Margot through a childbirth education class she led. Right away we were struck by her genuine desire to help make our child’s birth as informed and comfortable as possible. We ended up hiring her as our doula. She was warm, knowledgeable, and put both of us at ease. We knew we were in good hands (wonderful hands) with her. There was a high likelihood I was going to end up needing a cesarean; if I needed a cesarean, it would be under general anesthesia due to a rare medical condition that precluded the use of an epidural. She suggested I hand express colostrum starting one week before I was scheduled to be induced. She guided me through the process and issues I had with the hand expression. Sure enough, I ended up needing a cesarean. My husband was able to feed my son right away while I was still recovering from anesthesia. Once I recovered, my son was able to latch on very quickly. We are so grateful to Margot for suggesting that I hand express the colostrum. It made a huge difference. We are grateful to her for everything she did to help us prepare for the birth of our child, for her participation in the birthing process, for how her advice made breast feeding easier from the get go, and for her generosity.
